Duvall Catering & Event Design, the go-to catering company for everything from Army Wives to Google, threw a bang-up bash for their 30-year anniversary last Thursday night, showing off a fresh new direction for the company. A humble hangar at the Mt. Pleasant airport was transformed into a swanky space, with black fabric covering the walls, colorful lights setting the mood, and unique decorations made from green bottles scattered around. But the focus, of course, was on the food. “Chef’s bars” were scattered throughout the room — one had several chefs quickly preparing a short menu of items, like Cuban sandwiches with fried plantains and osso bucco with wild mushroom risotto; another had a pastry chef preparing fruity springrolls and tasty rice krispy treats topped with melon and a sweet dough. The espresso bar warmed up the chilly crowd, while the bar boasted a modern wine cellar. All the food was amazing, but my favorite was the lobster tarragon in a sugar cone — I couldn’t get enough. Though the pommes frites with tangy mayo were pretty amazing as well… Here’s to many more years of success for Duvall. Check out their new website at www.eventsbyduvall.com.
